Celtic 1 Spartak 1- Celtic go to Monaco 5-4 on Pens
It’s probably not the best time to be discussing the fact that you have never seen Celtic win a penalty kick shoot out with a complete stranger who is sitting beside you, when the teams have lined up and Gary Caldwell is wandering towards the Jock Stein stand to take the first kick.
Memories of the 89-cup final, Valencia and Falkirk were too fresh in ma mind at the final whistle for me to feel confident. Add to that the fact that we had missed a pen already and a barrowload of chances then to say I wisnny confident is an understatement.
I thought we had blown it. I admit it. I was happy with the teams performance they had gave their all, had looked as shabby as Amy Winehouse after rehab at times but I moaned for entertainment and I’m getting it.
Right, we play the ball in strange areas at time, tonight we lost the ball too often, but make no mistake they are a bloody good side who losing the ball to is no disgrace, we missed sitters, they missed sitters and all in, if you were a neutral then you would have left that game saying that was some game.
Two missed pens, both, which weren’t pens; a dodgy ref and incidents galore made it a night you will always remember at CP. Hard to pick out players but I thought Aiden and Mark Wilson were outstanding. Oh, and of course the Pole in the goal.
A night, which after the 120 mins I felt I had been through an emotional roller coaster and a roller coaster I feel I will be riding more often with this team.
To tell you the truth I wouldnae have it any other way. See 4.30 tomorrow as the adventure continues.

Following the Tic is not for the faint hearted!
But we have just put out a damned good team and the two matches against them will stand us in good stead for the what's to come.
Not only for guys like Donati, Skippy and Skoosh who are just finding their way in CL fitba, but all the others as well. They are all hungry for it, and that is no bad thing.
Ok, we are not the finished article and we probably never will be - but what team is? Overall we are probably better off than at the same point last year, and last year we gave a few teams a run for their money.
Last sixteen would still be a great achievement, though.
Roll on the Monaco draw!
Although to be honest I don't care who we get (except I don't want any English teams - hate all that Scotland V England hype).
All in all, I'm not too upset that the huns are there too. They don't have the squad to handle SPL and Europe. Plus the fact I am looking forward to them getting found out big time. There is no hiding place in the CL.
Exciting times ahead, bring it on!
Just been looking at the draw Here are the pots:
Pot One
AC Milan (holders), Barcelona, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United.
Pot Two
Valencia, Lyon, Porto, Sevilla/AEK Athens, PSV Eindhoven, Roma, Benfica, Werder Bremen.
Pot Three
CELTIC, Schalke, VfB Stuttgart, Steaua Bucharest, CSKA Moscow, Sporting Lisbon, Lazio, Marseille.
Pot Four
Rangers, Shakhtar Donetsk, Besiktas, Olympiakos, Fenerbahce, Dynamo Kiev, Rosenborg, Slavia Prague.
Personally I would favour Arsenal of the English teams as I reckon that would be some game. I can't see us not getting an English Team in Pot One.
Pot Two - Have no real preference for any of the teams - have to say that they all seem a much of a muchness to me.
Pot four - can't get TFOD so that leaves more potential banana skins there. Of the lot, i would prefer a match against Rosenburg or Slavia Prague. Going back to the Ukraine or to Turkey, I would hope we avoid.
The draw is at 5pm apparently, presume Skysports news will be covering it - haven't checked though as yet.
Hail hail one and all
Oh good, can I pick?
1 Inter or Barca.
2 PSV or Porto.
4 Rosenburg or Slavia Prague.
(Turkey, Greece or Ukraine? Not exactly easy in pot 4!) >~/
Would you prefer being in pot 3 or 4 or the UEFA cup? :-)
ECL= Saturday games, ya beauty!
Hail! Hail!
Me, I hope we play very well, not losing at least 2 of our away games plus all our home ties and if we can (at least), qualify for the Waffa Cup as third placed team and then win it!!!!
Would help the co-efficient and means we get another Euro Trophy. Then the following year do a Porto and win the Big one as well.
That way I would be a very happy Baldy
Six- yer right that was inexperianced young side last night that handled the pressure. In fact in the last 20 mins we were the only team that was going to win.
Mentally strong we were.
Lhads will post aboot draw tomorrow, ian i would have went with your choices..going away for the weekend to hagerston castle and need to pack as mrsg is giving me grief.....
