View From The Wing- "Wattienaccio"
The musings on the TV, there of Mark McGhee and Billy Dodds regarding r*ngers, Celtic and Aberdeens game got me thinking. They were full of praise of the set up of all teams for their respective games.
The "Wattienaccio" system seems to be flavour of the month all across Scotland at the moment and it won't be long until it is appearing at a public park near you soon. So why is this?
Personally i blame Andy Roxburgh and his think tank. He arranges the forums that gets all coaches together to discuss new innovations. A few weeks back their was one at St Andrews for all the SPL managers and the guests of hounor were Ferguson, Moyes and Houllier.
I'm sure Irons, Leven, Jeffries and them all lapped up the talks on tactics from Moyes and Houllier. I mean these two are the masters of boring the living daylights oot of you by the teams and tactics they have fielded in the past.
I'm sure Roxburgh and Craig Brown are proud their template is now seen as the future....

I still think if a team is so bad that they have to play with one forward and a midfield in front of the defence then the fans should be paid to attend!
Messi is right of course, this type of football is `non bella!`
No I don't mind the Wattanaccio system per say. If we are going to use it though I expect the changes to be made that we can continue to use it as an effective tool for the short to medium term.
Last night when the subs were made, I felt that the main problem was again not addressed. The tactics, although boring were fine with me. It's the implemenation i have a problem with.
Sometimes the full hog sticks in the throat. Gulp!
Ian and Baldy- i agree with both of you..yes it's anti fitba and yes it's a system and tactic if you have players who can do it well i.e keep the ball when you have it and change to 4-3-3 when your attacking then it's useful.
When you see a British team playing it, it's ugly negative long ball fare but when you see the europeans playing it, it can be devestating and potent
GS last night got one thing right he played McGeady as the out ball. Naka should have played as the other out ball.
as i say i don't think we have the players to play it....
oh, Everton tonight v a poor Greek team played a long ball 4-5-1...at home...
Remember our DC friend and pointless possession? We pass the ball around until it gets to the back 4 who pass to the goalie who lumps it upfield.= Pointless possession! :-)
Come on the Bhoys!
I think the combination of the nature of the loss in Ukraine and injuries to strikers did contribute to the line up in Lisbon. The teams can only play with the players available, remember part of the problem for Milan last Feb/March was the combination of Sno and Lenny in midfield. This allowed Celtic to defend further up the pitch. Always preferable in European matches1 Aw well, life goes on and hopefully it will be a fit and skillful Celtic tomorrow! Come on the Bhoys!!!!!
Agreed Ian
Come on the Hoops
Enjoy tomorrow lads
Ian agreed, sorry no time in a rush, had no time to post a preview...will post a review and also my last word on the CL tomorrow....
There is a demo against John Reid today at 1.45pm, i will be going along depending on what time my bus gets there...fancy talking to a few green brigade members....
Forza....
Come on Celtic, this is a big one! Enjoy your get together Kevin.
Skippy!!!!!!!
Oh Hoopy Daze
Understand it wasn't the greatest performance (senior Baldy listening to Radio Scotland opinion) but a clean sheet and three points does me, considering the last week. Now to scout the HB and other messageboards to find the goals
baldy
I thought that when the Bhoys were good in the game they were brilliant. Naka was just a touch out here and there but Killen and McDonald seemed to play well together and Caldwell and Naylor played well. Very WELL!
