Aberdeen v Celtic, Scottish Cup -- Preamble

Set yer alarms lads - 12:30 KO!!!

With 3 SPL wins already against Abberdeen this season (1-3, 3-0 and 1-5) you would think confidence will be pretty high heading up to Pittodrie for the third(!) time this season.

Added to that the Sheep are looking a bit woolly (geddit?) at the moment, with injuries taking their toll.

This game should be a formality.

BUT, being a glass half full type (and, until Easter at least, nae glass at all...), I think we could be in for a hard time.

You've got to wonder what after-effects the Barca game will have. Thinking back to AC Milan last year, we stop functioning completely and started to stammer and stutter our way through a season we had been coasting.

Aberdeen won't lie down and they always come at us on their own patch. Results like Barnsley-Chelsea still happen (fortunately) and a cup tie is, by definition, a banana skin.

But, I think mainly due to the number of decent players we've got chapping the door for a first team start, we should come through this game comfortably enough (there I said it, my fault if we slip up, then) and take our place in the semis against QoS at Palmerston Park.

In the other match tomorrow, it will be interesting to see if Hibs go in with the same "enthusiasm" and as they did against us last week.
Widnae bet my hoose on it, tho'.
Good news is that Cousin is out for a while tho' (face cracked when he looked in the mirror) and the unholy goalie is justly suspended...

Tic line-up should be interesting between the cup-tied (Robson), suspended (Brown) and, erm, tired (Donati, Nails) - not to mention others pushing for a starting place (Wilson, Sno, Sammy). Could be:

Artur
Hinkel Mick Caldwell Wilson
Nakamura Hartley Sno Aiden
Skippy Sammy

With some decent bhoys still on the bench (Deeks, anybody?).

Fleck, I forgot Robson was cup tied. Do I trust Sno after is Herculean performance in the Camp Nou or am I mair worried that Donati will get a reprieve?

Feel GS will do the later, wie Massimo and Hartley getting the nod.

The European hangover has bitten two teams on the arses this weekend- how I laughed at both of them- and, yes, I’m worried we will be found wanting.

Quite correct, the sheep have got injuries but at hame in the cup a gimmie to the final they will be dangerous.

Interesting to see you putting Willo at left back….I feel that they will wrap Mark in cotton wool and I place on the bench is the best he can hope for. Nayls is undroppable, unfortunately in GS eyes, coz as the Daily Ragger says GS disnnae listen to fans, journos or fannies.

Not, holding oot much hope for Hibs, Colin Pish is cup tied like oor Robbo and I think they are going for a pint together to bemoan their moves….

If both teams go for it at greyskull wie the same enthusiasm then it will end up a royal rumble wie a couple of defo sending offs. Awe for Hibs mind….

Och, Mon The Hoops a performance and a victory before I return to ma work after a week off……

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't we face QoS in Hampden since it is a semi-final?

As you said though, gotta do the business tomorrow first. No European let down, no taking it easy. Gotta go balls out the first 15 and put the sheep down early! Can't let them hang around like St. Mirren. While they are struggling and by no means Barca, the longer they hand around, the uglier it could get.

C'MON THE HOOPS!

Allfly, well spotted:
Scottish Cup Semis will take place on the weekend of 12/13 April 2008 at Hampden.

What we don't want is a replay from this game.
Would be good if Hibs could force a re-match at Rue de Paques tho'
:o)

Will post HalfTime and Fulltime comments.

Oh, and well done Ecosse XV for yesterday's result - talk about a season saver!

Three hard games coming up quickly. The game today will be difficult enough. It`s always a toss up between your own team and the one that the manager will put out.
Boruc
Hinkel Caldwell McManus Naylor
Nakamura Sno Hartley McGeady
McDonald Vennegoor of Hesselink
(I think that Wilson and Donati may have a chance too.)
Whoever plays they have my support.
Come on the Celts! Up for the cup!

Sixtae,
I`m reminding you that Rangers v Hibs is a replay and extra time and penalties are on the menu for today.
I`ll take us to be still in the cup at 2.35 GMT. Replays are acceptable but a victory would be better! :-)
Come on the Bhoys!

Lhads

I will throw ma hat into the ring....if GS plays Sno and Hartley we will be in for a tough afternoon and he better have a tin helment on....

If he goes wie that midfield we might not need to worry aboot QOS at an empty Hampden...

welcome- allfly!!!!

Have you seen ex hoops Ryan McCann goal?

Fully 70 yards...

Rumours that he is now the Doonhammer Beckham are unconfirmed.

I think that Celtic were improving as the first half went on. Hopefully the second half will see goals. For the Bhoys!
