Cetic v Motherwell - FT 0-1
Well - that's that then.
Impotent - I think that's the word for it.
Unable to score against a 10-man Motherwell.
Hardly a clear cut chance - more a succession of half chances, either fluffed or saved.
Too many players went missing in the second half (Scott Brown, Donati, Naka).
McDonald was poor. Naylor was unbelievably bad (couldn't believe Hinkel was hooked and Naylor stayed on!!!).
The more I watch Celtic, the more I'm convinced there are over-coached.
They are told to play a system and can't switch to anything else when they need to.
Subs were like for like.
We've got a lot of decent players but it's no longer working with Gordon Strachan.
I think there comes a time when you've got to hold you hand up and say it won't be our season.
Just a pity we had to gift wrap it.

We needed a type of player that we don`t have. Too many home games without a goal. The game is up for 2007-8. The next seven games are about pride and trying things.
Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the Livros e Revistas, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://livros-e-revistas.blogspot.com. A hug.
Had a (long) wee think.
At the start of the season we hoped that the new players would have helped to beat a packed defence. Remember the Spartak Moscow matches. Unfortunately they have found it tough and players who we relied on have been poor. Naming names from those there last season I would say Naka and JVoH have let us down but they have been trying their legs off.
I still think that we can beat Motherwell next week and perhaps we will magically regain form.(ALOTBSOL)
I think that the pressure is getting to the manager but we didn`t stick to 4-4-2. The only part that didn`t change was the 2 up front.
Donati was taken off because of the numpties in the crowd who hate players who rely on skill. He was having a fairly decent game as the fulcrum and was making good passes. However the team weren`t playing pass and move football. The atmosphere in the stadium encouraged the long ball.
As for the foul mouth anti Strachan brigade. I wasn`t impressed.
Oh aye, we need players to beat a packed defence. Fast skillful midfielders who can time their run through the defence and players with a shot like a mule. Strikers with height and mobility. We are a better team to watch than a year ago and let that be a lesson. Be careful what you wish for!
Any suggestions?
Hi Ian - wasn't the guy who sang ALOTBSOL in a pretty precarious position?
I got angry with myself this morning for thinking "if Dunt win today, we are in the same situation as before". I'm not sure I'm ready to take another glimpse of hope, only to sink againg in the quagmire of Fir Park.
Suggestions?
Get a decent central defense in place.
Get a decent and settled central midfield in place.
Don't over-rely on the same player to get you out of trouble (ex: Naka last year, Aiden this year).
Have a plan B and plan C.
Score an early goal, take the pressure off, and build from there.
Oh, and in Europe, avoid losing an early goal, take the pressure off, and build from there.
A player who is having a stinker should be hooked ASAP (ex: Naylor yesterday).
Score goals and win games against Rangers and other teams with vastly inferior squads.
Hit the bye line and cut it back.
The list could go on and on.
Seen yesterday so many times this season....they never even made me have Basil moment...
I just accepted it was going to happen....I knew it was going to happen when I saw the team....
I spent last night over a beer thinking about things. My heid is still not clearer and yes for once I was embarressed to be a Tim by the reaction of the majority....
But...that is for later....
I'm putting maeself through hell by watching der huns....
I've always got hope...
3-3 at Tannadice. It`s a funny old game and someone is having a laugh at us!
Ian and Six: All great points and ones I fully agree wie. All the suggestions are doable but we have a manager who won't change.
I think he will put it down to players losing form rather than his selections and tactics.
Another diddy pass back saves der huns. Sometimes the gods just work against you or work for you.
Lee Naylor had, i think, the worst ever game I have seen in a Celtic jersey.
I like the over coached angle you went for six, you are right we stick to a system and the players are robotic and machine like adhearing to this system....
Square baw, square baw, find the wide men, central mid dinny break beyond the front two...cross into the box....
The only way Gordon Strachan will leave with any semblance of reputation intact is to skelp the huns twice at Celtic Park.
If he does that, he'll be told "2 outa 3 ain't bad" then "Thanks for the memories" then "Next!".
If we lose to the huns (esp. the first game) all hell will break loose, and it could get very messy.
As for the next one in, I've seen a few pushing Levein's name.
That's one I didn't think about until now. We could probably do worse, as I don't see who in their right mind would actually want to come to the SPL toytown.
Probably wouldn't do much for season ticket sales tho'.
Whoever it is, I just hope it's done quick, as I don't want to spend this summer checking NewsNow every 15min.
Another diddy pass back saves der huns. Aye, and the fitba' gods are turning a blind eye tae offside goals as well...
Was it Xavi who was commenting about Scottish football being so negative? Who would come to play in a league like ours? Scott Brown hasn`t been able to make the transition to a team that has to win every game against up for it players who play in a packed defence. Can we really be surprised?
I saw the state of Fir Park pitch on the BBC highlights of Gretna v ICT and it`s bad, very bad! Fun and games. :-)
I am a Jambo that comes in peace. My opinion of Celtic (having only watched a handful of games) is that they are a strange side under Strachan.
You definately have the best players in the league and on paper should be winning by 3 or 4 every week. However, in a lot of games you have had to rely on late goals. Celtic are a much better team than Rangers but Rangers seem to grind out victories in a very boring way.

Kevin perhaps you could make a link to JM`s link.
Meanwhile, the reserves beat Killie 3-1 with Killen scoring all three. Riordan not in the team after his wee moan in the sunday papers.
I meant JM`s BLOG. :-)
Worth a browse... if only to change the mood.
Oh, and welcome to you jm ~ you kinda sum up what we're all thinking when you say that Celtic are a strange side under Strachan.
Some would even say very strange...
