Tic v Dons FT 1-0

Nervous second half - very nervous.

However, we got the required goal from Sammy. He got his head when Robbo whipped in a free kick after 55mins. But generally his play isn't incisive enough - maybe just an impact player after all ?

It was pretty awful fare today to be honest - we made heavy weather of it.
I don't remember a match with so many slack, underhit and misplaced passes.
Was it just a hangover from midweek? Or do Aberdeen just drag us down to their level?

Sammy had a goal chalked off with 2min to go, and more importantly so did Aberdeen two mins into injury time. In fact, they were very close to snatching an equalizer a couple of times.
That would have been game, set and match. But we live to see another day.

However, there are a few positive from today:

  • We took 3pts while playing badly.
  • Young Caddis looks very promising at full back - defo, one for the future.
  • We've got a week to get our walking wounded up and running again.
  • We have added an extra bit of pressure on the hun.
  • We are top of the league tonight.
I am now away to change out of my broon cords and have a wee drinky - my nerves are shattered. I think next Sunday will take care of itself - it's the other games I'm worried about now.

I went back to the pub in Clydebank (Chandlers- best pint of Tennents lager in the world -can`t explain this)?
Anyway my friend thought that we were rubbish and a change of manager is needed. I was happy that a tired team won the three points. How could he be so, `always look on the dark side of life`. Anyway we`ll see what happens next week.
Come on Celtic!
Sixtae, enjoy son!

Hey, this time last week what would we have said to Celtic gaining nine points. Probably the best week this year. :-)
Unlucky if Aberdeen had a good goal disallowed but the body language of our defenders had told me that the whistle had gone. I think luck has turned for us.
As for the team,
Boruc: not tested
Hinkel: looking more comfortable
(Caddis: a wee gem):-)
Balde: reliable and had a decent game
McManus: should have a look at himself 8~/
Wilson: a good match but has to prime up that left leg
Nakamura: good to flagging
Robson: very good and prepared to take the lead.
Donati: lacking confidence but stuck with it.
McGeady: does amazing things but not at the top of his game.
McDonald: still trying hard but it`s not really working for him.
(Killen: unlucky to be penalised with header that put Samaras through but looked sluggish.
Samaras: scored three times :-) but overall play was poor.

Bench: Took ages before Killen was brought on, I think that it was the Torsion equation this time.
Outlook: Caldwell and Brown will be back for the next game and hopefully Hinkel, Hartley and JVoH will be fit too.
Benefits from the match? Balde and Caddis played well and samaras will feel good about scoring the winner.
Negatives: Big Mick`s nerves are fraying and the Skipmeister is needeing a break. Just like me!

(While I`m in charge of this blog I am reminded of how I felt at the final whistle of the cup final last season, `thank goodness that season is over!` but the agony has continued!

Ian - good assessment of player performances yesterday. I think Robbo deserves a special mention for the wicked free kicks and corners he can whip in - a nightmare for any defense.

It will be interesting to see how the manager deals with the return of Skoosh if Hartley and Robson are fit and able for next Sunday.

Still it's a good problem to have (better than a tortion equation).
Imagine Skoosh coming on for the last 30mins to run at a knackered hun team.
Ditto, imagine Sammy on for the last half hour alongside Jan up front, once Skippy has snapped at their heels for an hour.

I mentioned in the FT summary that I think next Sunday will take care of itself and I'm more concerned about the other games.

Aberdeen yesterday are probably the worst last 6 team, and are certainly the ones with least to play for (pity the huns have them on the last day).
However, we could so easily had dropped 2 points yesteraday.
We've really got to up our game against Motherwell, Hibs and DUnt, otherwise we could be punished.

I am pretty sure that the huns will drop points but will they drop 4 in their remaining 6 games (always assuming we beat them)?

Methinks we'll need to rough them up a wee bit again next week - help them along the implosion route. With any luck they will disappear up their own vortex before they can get their paws on oor flag.
:o)

The Aberdeen supporters had brought a 3 part banner which said, `last week was pathetic so we expect you to play for the colours this week`
No pressure?

Seven, I probably thought that you came from Stirling. The previous time I was in Chandlers was after the Kilmarnock game in January.
I live along Dumbarton Road in Old Kilpatrick and usually walk to the train station at Dalmuir to travel to Celtic Park. I don`t go to pubs very often these days so my knowledge of drink is very suspect. :-)

Was worried aboot us having a hangover, changes disrupting the team and Aberdeen being boring, boring, boring and not trying to make it a game. All came true and it was one of those games that you were glad of the three points but it was instantly forgettable.

Never really thought we were in danger but the nerves showed towards the end.

Sammy was poor, Robbo MOTM IMO again and Caddis made a big difference. Made me think that we maybe wasted a million and a bit quid on Hinkel wie him sitting there.

Last week and midweek we had variation in oor play yesterday we had sod all. It was predictable and laboured. Any surprise that Donati was playing and we had that type of performance?

Sixtaeseven: I love the bullet points positives.

Ian: Get a nice pint of Carling Extra Cold in the Newmarket Inn, Bannockburn. Bloody £2.60 a pint though. Nae wonder I drink in the hoose in the dark wie the curtains shut…..

Oh, I’m sure sevens liver will tell you that he is more ofay wie pubs than you…..a big man?

9 points in week canny be sniffed at. Two decent performances and one dodgy but joab done.

Ah, the subs. It took them 15 mins to bring on Killen. He took his top of on 68 mins came in in the early 80’s. Again, what were they telling him. Over coached.

Completely agree wie your assessment and outlook. And the negatives.

Loads of talent on this blog……it’s like an episode of “LOTW has TALENT” what’s next? A dog that can write 2000 words while singing and dancing to the sound track of West Side Story? Lol

I loved the Sheepies banner. I will use it…..

I have just said Killer Killen time travelled and came on for Frank McGarvey in the early 80's?

Is this an episode of Ashes to Ashes?

At least we're not the only frustrated group of supporters, eh seven?

An ugly 3 pts is better than a pretty 1 pt.

Keving, Ah hope you're getting a note of all their phone numbers
:o)

Well done Aiden for the double award - well deserved for the goals, assists and sheer entertainment value.

The only thing is, that type of recognition won't go unnoticed by the moneybags of the EPL.
If Mutton is worth 8 zillion in the current market, what price Aiden?

Good Chat bhoys

Three Points gladly taken. Seen extended highlights on Youtube and Caddis seems to be a great prospect.

Tired team - can't accept that. We got punted out of two competitions especially early and we have played a few less than our rivals for the other one, bearing in mind they had more qualifiers than us as well. They should be desparate to get out there to put the points in the bag. On the pitch though, we just don't seem to want to put teams to the sword, even when we score three or 4 early, we then back off. What ever happened to playing for 90 minutes.

Mrs. B asked me yesterday when TFOD got their penalty yesterday? I hadn't even bothered to check the score till then (10pm). Gonna do the pools one week as she has got a number of calls dead on the money recently.

Right HAil Hail one and all

Hi Lhads,
Just to say that I will be disappearing off the blog until the 1st May (wee hiking holiday and I'm not sure if I will be able to get internet access easily).

This means I will miss next Sunday's match but I have every confidence in the Bhoys to continue where they left off last Wednesday.

Any volunteers for the match reports?

Six: Nae phone numbers.....just ISP adresses.:-)

Yes, well done Aiden...I think the EPL can wait a few years before he goes down there...still money talks.

Baldy: I think it is mental tiredness if anything. Wednesday night took a lot oot of the bhoys but.....the coaches and management should make sure that the players are 100%.....

I watched their game, well last twenty and ET, after watching two sunday teams play in the welfare Scottish Cup Final.

I couldnae tell the difference between the two. Honestly. Both were pure shite.....

One of 22 players unfit and hungover the other were two pub teams!!!!! boom boom.....

Matt: Can you E-Mail the site, cheers.

Post match session will be posted, it's half done...it's not war and peace but it's being edited tomorrow lunchtime....

Six: Another holiday?

Aye, anytakers? You know the format, the drill the roll call, the fact there is no rules.....

Let us know and I'll get it sorted.

SPL announced that the season will be extended if der Hun gets to the WAFFA Cup final.

Well Lawell/Reid time to start actually earning your pennies.

As this was denied to us in a previous year, I expect this to be taken right to the end and all hell breaking lose - if necessary court action a la Ken Bates.

No prisoners to be taken on this one and f@*k the media rubbish. This has to be challenged to the very end.

Liverpool will think themselves to be unlucky but the end will gee up Chelsea for Saturday too.
Both teams looked short of CL final quality but I`ve seen worse games. (Thank you, ITV)
Come on the Celts!
Even the BBC have air brushed our disallowed goal out of the highlights of the Aberdeen game but have put the *`reheated kale` of the Aberdeen `goal` in. :-)
