Decanted Newsamble: Hibs(h) Part Deux

As expected, The Hun jumping into bed wie a downmarket tabloid has caused a former lapdog and countless other former lapdogs to roond up the wagons and turn on their former paymaster. Must admit, the former, former lapdog article hits the nail on the heid and points oot the logic while still ignoring the facts right enough.

I suppose it's as close as we will ever get to someone calling The Huns cheats. Apart from me....Cheats.

Tonight (Thursday, if this is posted on Friday), I play fives and two Huns turned up wie the most horrible t-shirts on. They "celebrated" the upcoming "bash" in Mancland and had Novo The Skankmonster on the front, wie the graphic for Euro 2008( yes, really), their "results" on the back (all 4 goals listed wie pride) and some butchers aprons for guid measure.

It brought it home to me the fact that I really don't give a shit aboot them and the 500,000 that are traveling for their Cup Final. Why should I really be bothered aboot a cup that we couldnae win?

So, from this moment forth I can safely say all at LOTW (well, this part of LOTW) couldnae gie a flying feck aboot the UEFA Cup Final.

So what's caught my eye this week?

This story regarding Scott McDonald got me thinking and nothing short of a bit worried. So, we have signed a grumpy overweight striker whose ego needed brought doon to earth. We also find oot that he needs to be "noised up" to get the best out of him. Not bothered aboot that. His reaction after his second against The Huns and at other times this season had already proved he is as grumpy as The Greater Manchester Polis Commander was last Friday morning.

But, his reaction to the failed attempt by The Huns has got me worried. He was fuming by this knock back. So all this family are Tims is all shite to butter up the fans and he would have been a stone throw away from Kenny Miller if Motherwell would have accept the bid.

Still, I forgive the wee Wizard from Oz. Even though he has cost me a £20 by scoring over 20 goals this season. I didn't think he would get anywhere near that figure. But...to think he could have sold his soul to the devil for a few pennies more....

Reason number 100,001 why The Huns proposed extension couldnae happen. The small matter of Euro 2008. Nice to see the Dutch and Greeks being so understanding while The Huns play on the fact that none of their players are guid enough to go to Euro 2008.

A few weeks back a story that should have had the headline "Celtic Star Victim Of Sectarian Attack" but got the headline "Ned McGeady Provkes Trouble In Glesga Nitespot" instead, has brought this little ditty from oor Aiden.

It is a sad state of affairs when people think aboot moving to Edinburgh so they can walk doon the street wieoot being attacked or abused. I don't understand the mentality of some. Doesn't McGeady remember the abuse he gets at Tynecastle?

In fact McGeady couldnae move anywhere in Scotland judging by the racist abuse he receives at every away ground in Scotland. But I digress. I wouldnae think twice of abusing a Hun if I meet him in the street.

No, I would follow him, brick his windaes, put a banana up the exhaust of his car and shite in his front garden. Only kidding, I hope.

So from Edinburgh to Leith. And the visit of "Celtic's Feeder Club". Who from being a thing of fitba' beauty under John Collins have become an ugly beast under the new incumbent. By all accounts they didnae try and attack The Huns on Sunday and I don't expect them to do it on Sunday.

So as Celtic Stats states, we have played them 5 times since 2005/06, winning 3 and drawing 2(1 which has proved costly this season). We have scored 8 times to their 5 and only McGeady and JVOH are the only forwards still present at the club that has scored against them since 05/06.

Hibs are 3 games wieoot a victory (drawing 2) and scoring 2 goals in the process. Their away record is poor wie them only winning one oot of their last 6 wie that win coming 5 games ago and that was against Falkirk in Feb.

Celtic are 5 games wieoot a loss and have won their last 3 at home scoring 6 goals in the process but losing 3. First time Hibs have visited CP under Big Mixu. I reckon they will come wie a different gameplan under him than they did under Collins.

So, wie the added pressure on us, I predict a scrappy 2-0 victory wie Aiden to score the last goal.
Forza

Hi Mr G et al - apologies that I haven't read much of the score on here recently, rather busy at present.

However will be sending you some pics later of stuff from teh HB which deserve a good airing that you may wish to incorporate in some thing.

Additionally an excellent site has been developed which you should have a look at, with a lot of stats and info http://www.celticmatchprogrammes.co.uk/. Any chance we can get a link for this on the right hand side Mr. G?

Great link Baldy !
Found the first one I can rememeber for sure:
Celtic 1 v Hearts 1 - 18th April 1964 - Att : 21,000

Celtic team : Fallon, Young, Gemmell, Clark, McNeill, Kennedy, Johnstone, Murdoch, Chalmers, Gallagher, Hughes

Love the 2-3-5 formations.
Wispy was playing for Hearts!

Collecting football programmes is one of the really stupid things that I do. In actual fact my enthusiasm for this stopped a long time ago but being a mug I usually buy one.
Anyway, I`m trying to keep cool before Sunday, surely the Bhoys can win this one for us? :-)

I used to collect fanzines and ticket stubs. Since I moved in wie MrsG I have stopped as she just moaned.

I'm trying to find out what was my first game. I reckon it was at Aberdeen in 1981.....

Back to painting......

See this spray on shit...it's shit and makes a mess.

I followed your first link to the Graham Spiers link and noticed a Tony Cascarino article about last day miracles. Beware teams/players with `nothing` to play for, except for `new contracts!`
I kinda agree but you usually need the whole team to be pulling together.
Who in the Celtic team are playing for their livelihood? :-/
Come on the Bhoys!

Oh yes, I remember being told that those paint sprays can cause difficulties. Are there any washings out in a 15m radius? Be prepared to be SUED! :-) They look so convenient in the TV ads.

Ian: I have just read that article very interesting. How many DUNT players know their fate after a week on Thursday? Aberdeen are different. They have numerous players who will be playing their last game for the club. Some have found clubs others still looking.

So by Big Cass reckoning they should be trying like tigers. So will DUNT right enough.

Celtic team? Taxis are booked for Elvis, Deek, Donut, Bobo, Nayls and depending on money probably Arfur. Unlike The Sheep or DUNT these players will retain their earning capacity.

Paint sprays. They fire on 4 coats of paint at once, make a mess and it cost me a tenner to do three panels of a bloody fence. But….if you spray once then spread the paint wie a brush it’s not as bloody expensive.

Dissny happen on the bloody adverts like that. The guy on the advert is dressed in his Sunday best, I’m covered from heid to toe in red cedar…..

Fact Of The Day:

There have been 400 games in this season UEFA Cup.

Finalists The Huns have won 2 of them.

A wee side note on a couple of our Seville season UEFA opponents: Boavista and Porto.

Bovista sitting midtable in the league at the moment, have just been found guilty and relegated for their part in match fixing scandal (bribing refs) that came to a head in 2004.

Porto have been treated more leniently - docked 6 points and fined for their part.
Seems that Porto are pretty much untouchable in Portugal - a bit like you know who here - and are virtually getting off Scot free, as they are already 20pts clear at the top of the league.

Just another reason to hate the diving scumbags.

As Gordon Smith would say "We've got the best referees that money can buy".

Is this a footy blog or a comedy one? :-)
Elvis and Deek, yes but I`m not sure about the others. We will see.
Come on the Bhoys!

Ian: Its an alternative blog…..

In saying that sometimes alternative comedy is as funny as a doze of piles. And sometimes alternative football commentary is as useful as a B&Q Spray on kit.

Six: Was thinking aboot that this morning. Not diving cheating scumbags but Porto and Sevilla have been the only two decent teams to win the UEFA Cup in this decade (I think). Was looking at the fair in that trophy this year and the standard was poor.

But…..Boavista were sitting 15th in their league when we played them so they had a reason to bribe ref’s, Porto…won that league at a canter. Them being docked 6 points this season won’t effect them. I mean Sporting (shite) are 20 points behind them.

Are Lyon feeling the heat in French league Sixtaeseven? See their chairman is having a David Murray moment.

FACT OF THE DAY

Celtic win tomorrow they will surpass their points total for last season.

Thinking back the away record has been acceptable but 4 home draws and a defeat is not. If you add the two cup defeats that`s 4 matches without a goal at Celtic Park. I excuse the Hibs draw because the team played well and got a late equaliser. The conditions in the St Mirren game said play percentage footy but we never did.
I think that the team is more aggressive now and less willing to try to pass through teams so I`m backing our Bhoys to win tomorrow. A sunny start to the day. :-)

Yes Kevin, Lyon feeling the heat but are in pole position with 2 games left. Would like to see Bordeaux snatch it, if only because one team dominating for so long is pretty boring.

Not feeling the heat as much as PLG/PSG tho'.
Cracker tonight against St Etienne, who are looking for a EUFA place for the first time in yonks. Couldnae get tickets tho' - pity !

The thing about Porto/Boavista is that they were (probably) at the cheating during the Seville year (and in the year that Porto won the CL).
If they are guilty, and they are, you would think that UEFA would be having a wee look at what they were doing in Europe as well - and the decide to award us our UEFA cup after all!
:o)

Talking about feeling the heat, bloody roasting here today!

PS
will do a TicvHibs preview this evening and quick HT/FT match report, if that's ok with you, Mr K?
