Decanted Newsamble: Motherwell(a)

What a fucker of a week. This wound is probably to raw to give a objective appraisal of how I feel at this moment at time but I feel my memories of oor UEFA Cup run have been violated and devalued.

This article in The Guardian sums up why I’m feeling bemused and angry at the fitba’ ghods- which I’m now believing don’t exist- this morning and now I’m sure the devil season will come to fruitarian. Sometimes you just have to accept that it’s written in destiny.

Update: I have just received this message from one of Manchesters finest, summing up what they are feeling in Mosside and Salford. Also, this article and following comments show that they are not influencing people or winning friends. Still....Veiri and Mutu for fucks sake.

Last night, more than hoping that the Huns would lose, I was pinning ma hopes on them losing as ma “Blackadder” plan hinged on them getting pumped oot and making it 6 games wieoot a victory for them. It’s still 6 games wieoot a victory but......the boost of getting to the UEFA Cup final will see them through.

We are now hoping for a marvellous May. A May when we can take what WE are witnessing- i.e joyus Huns- channel it and love it when we see them hurting when it all fails and karma is restored.

But it’s a helluva long shot. A shot so long that one of those fancy dan guns that the army use that can shoot 5 miles, through armour plated tanks, through walls and round corners wid have slim chances of hitting. Lord, we need a miricle.

It is now a watch through oor fingers May. I thought last Sunday was bad too. After we scored the penalty- which I didnae watch as I said to ma cousin “Barry Robson hits his pens straight doon the middle, any keeper worth his salt will know this.....” see the ultimate optimist, as always- I sat in my seat shitting maeself anytime we lost the ba’.

The auld fella that sits next to me asked me every 5 minutes how long their was to go and the last 10 minutes seemed like the longest of ma life. We now have 270 minutes of pure, pure torture to go. Added to that us having to watch what they do as well makes it worse. How I wish we didnae need to bother aboot them or who they were playing.

I mean, why should I bother if DUTD, Motherwell and Hibs still have something to play for when they play them. How come I’m hoping that both teams lose the UEFA cup final and my thoughts aboot the whole racist Zenit support and Huns being wiped oot are unhealthy.

So unhealthy in fact that if the Celtic Trust are bothered aboot a certain song aboot Nacho Skankmonster Novo and someone’s sisters pants then if they could have got inside ma heid I would have public enemy number 1.

It shouldnae matter but oor failings, which will be addressed on an end of the season blog, mean we have to bother. But first......let’s take care of business. We only have 9 points to play for and we need to ensure we get those 9 points.

But until yesterday it has been a quiet week. A week that sod all happened apart from the outcry over an unoffensive t-shirt worn by the most hated man in Scotland.

Now I think the press reaction to this and, also, The Huns reaction to this really proves the whole point of the HG's shirt. Yes, he knew what he was doing and he knew he was doing it in the most public of places. A place where bigotry, sectarianism and racism are common place.

The fact that the press called him "idiotic" for wearing it and wanted him hung, drawn, quartered, shot and fed to devil dugs shows even they DONT GET THE PROBLEM or the point of the shirt.

The problem is...the fact that he canny wear a GBTP T-Shirt wieoot the masses going mental aboot it. If you are offended by it then you are a cavemen. A bigot. Part of Scotland's Shame. Over at The Offside there is a amusing take and some damming evidence to ponder over. Also, from The Celts Are Here a cracking open letter to Darryl Benfoot.

Another story that caught my eye was Paul Hartley talks up oor Gordon's man-management skills. Not something that the anti-Strachan brigade will agree wie (or Adam Virgo, Alan Thomson, Charlie Mulgrew or Deek Riordon) but can Gordon take the credit for seeing the wood before the trees by playing a settled and in-form midfield for a number of games? Is that not what he should have been doing since March?

The Manager hits the nail on the heid wie his comments today. The Huns will only feel pressure if we win at the bog of Lanarkshire. The game will have to be played in the same sort of style as the last time we visited. That day we had to vary oor play, were more direct and went longer quicker from the midfield.

Our strikers have now found some form, oor midfield has a balance and Gary Caldwell is acting like the new Roy Aitken. We are 4 games unbeaten, scoring 10 goals and losing 4 in the process. We have only lost one away game in oor last 6- at Ipox- and since Motherwell beat us at CP they seem to have lost their way stumbling to a loss (against us right enough) and an undeserved 2-2 draw against DUTD. As celtic stats points out since 2005/06 we have played four games at Fir Park and only won twice.

Tomorrow that needs to become 3 wins. Wie Scott McDonald top goalscorer in oor squad wie 4 against Motherwell (oddly enough since 2005/06 he is joint scorer for Motherwell against us wie 4) I think I can predict that if yer a betting man my money would be on him scoring. Two goals v r*ngers has rejuvenated the wee fellow and another double could be on the cards.

Canny see GS making any changes- think Mick will play- so a 3-1 Celtic victory is my prediction.

Forza

Ian: I usually find alcohol comforts me….or the words of poets, like Morrissey, Ian Brown or the Johnnie Cash concert I have just watched on some obscure TV channel.

“I walk the line” indeed JC indeed.

Zenit St Petersburg’s fans are most notorious for their racism. Strange when you consider the history of Leningrad…..

I haven’t registered on CQN…….

Six: When I found oot the result this morning I fancied joining you up them mountains you were marching.

Just heard that the huns are the first team ever to get to a European cup final wieoot scoring in the semi. Rumour has it that the huns are going to be sponsored by Nytol for the final.

Baldy: I agree, Lisbon, Pana, Bremen and Fio all only have themselves to blame. They knew how the huns played but still did nuthin to trouble them. I hate having to worry aboot them. Usually I just ignore them in Europe but as the final got nearer my lifetime moment made me want to get interested.

Wie regards to their run, I have mentioned here many times that us and them are decent UEFA cup sides. Ones that would get to the ¼ and beyond every season if we got the luck of the draw. Question is……would you have fancied your chances to “beat” the teams the huns have?

Mines is YESSSSSSSSSSSSS.

At work today I had mair Huns come oot the clauset than at a public school…..

Correct we need to get the nine points available.

On the PLC…I’m sure you have a rant in you for the end of the season!!!!

Rangers fans have been told by the Manchester police, `if you haven`t got a ticket, stay away!`
Hoping for a win tomorrow and then the weekend can start.

WGS ... on celticTV just there..

Interviewer says, "And what about Rangers getting to the Uefa Cup Final?"

WGS .. ".... Well done, for us? I have no problem, we couldn't get the chance to beat them. We weren't in their competition!"

Ian: 100,000 will go to Blackpool for a week.....

100,000 jobless gleswegians, drunk, fighting and pishing in the street in Blackers.....

Normal weekend then......

The state of the pitch is a worry but it may be better than last time. It`s time for Aiden to score again. Come on Celts!

Am I right in saying that if we win our last 3 matches and they draw just 2 out of their 6, we are in there?

Surely, after the fare they have served up in recent weeks, that doesn't look impossible?

Anyway, so much for the glass half full speech, back to reality: Quagmire Park and 90mins of blud & snotters against the 3rd bestest in Scotland.

No mistake Murderwell will show more commitment than the Viola & Huns combined in their effort to put a spoke in our wheel.

A repeat of our last display against them would be a dream, but so often in the past they have managed to give us nightmares. And talking about nightmares, the ref better give our bhoys due protection from Bob the Builder, who will have just one thing in mind (who is the ManInBlue anyway?).

However, our recent form with the settled centre-mid is giving me cause for optimism, and my preference is O'Dea for Mick (even when fit)- so I fancy 3pts tomorrow, but it could be by the odd goal in 3...

Hail hail and enjoy the game!

Gutted I have to go to Pittsburgh early tomorrow morning and will be living in suspense for a couple hours mingling with football hating family members.

I think the fact that made me angry about thursday the most was not the "anti-fitbaw" but rather the fact that Fiorentina had at least half a dozen sitters that they tried to get way too fucking fancy with, constantly letting the Huns off the hook. At least this week, Vieri is my most hated non-hun.

Keep the Faith

Hey! Rangers getting through to the final was not a bad result for Celtic!
It`s all about today for Celtic.
Come on the Bhoys!

Six: I haven't worked out any "outcomes" or points won/lost yet. To much water to pass under the bridge before I think aboot that.

Three points today and next week, then maybe I will just start thinking aboot that.

I'm really not holding oot much hope in truth.

Ian: The reason i'm not holding out much hope is the FACT that the anti christs got to the final.

Canny get the logic of it was a guid result for Celtic....

Did the manchester polis not ban a pre-season game in Bolton wie the Huns? Sure they did.

Talksport is talking aboot the polis saying they are not welcome...

They're not welcome in Scotland either.....

Matt: You are quite correct, Veiri is a prick. The Viola only have themselves to blame.

MIB today is Steven Conroy.

Breakkie time....

I didn`t say it was a good result, the only good results are wins for Celtic. :-)
Come on the Celts!

David Moyes just on Talksport...

"Europe is important to us, we have learned lessons. We won 8 games in Europe, drew 1 and lost 1 but others with WORSE RECORDS GOT FURTHER....."

wonder who he meant.....

Things could be worse, you could be a PSG supporter.
Big game for them tonight against Tolouse (what a name!): lose that one and it's pretty much relegation.

And to think that, if we had had a choice between PLG and WGS three years ago, we would have all voted for agent VAT69.

C'Mon the Tic - a decent win today, playing decent fitba!!!

Some French Bhoys from The Irreductibles(Toulons ultras) were wie the Green Brigade last week Six....

Got right into the "spirit" of things by all accounts.

0-0 at half time. Eight corners from Motherwell, a direct shot from Motherwell.
Hopefully Celtic will lift their performance in the second half. They have to!

sixtaeseven said...

First half to forget: scappy SPL fare.

We have failed to test a rookie goalkeeper, in fact failed to do anything of note.

Hopefully in the second half:
- Wilson will replace Naylor who is abysmal
- we will string a few moves and chances together
- we will get Aiden on the ball in a bit of space
- we will get the winner.

However, I don't feel good about this at all...

Anybody fancy Skoosh on at some point?

ianinjesi said...

Poor start to the second half, the team has to get going.

ianinjesi said...

1-1 with just over 20 minutes to go. Come on Celtic!

sixtaeseven said...

FT 1-2
Did I say "the odd goal in 3" before the match?

Sammy snatched the winner to take the points. Deserved? Hardly. But as we have been told ad nauseam since Thursday night, it's all about winning. So we'll take it and move on to the next one.

Focus now switches to Easter Road. Pity Hibs won't be at full strength tomorrow (as they will be against us next week). But they are still in the hunt for 3rd place so you never know. A wee draw would be brill.

Oh, and bring back Mick, cos Bobo is worse!

ianinjesi said...

Agree about Il capitano Mick however he`s doubtful for next week too. No yellow cards for the guys in danger of being suspended.

ianinjesi said...

Hibs at home next week is the big one! I am reminded of the chase for the league in 1986 when supporters were hopeful but the players were not. I remember something that Brian McClair said but perhaps it was part of the plan to unsettle Hearts. Anyway I thought that the team could have been up for this game and giving us a 3-0 win but I was kidding myself. I would imagine that Balde, Naylor and Hartley may be in danger of being replaced next Sunday but not all three.
We could be second again before that game but then again. Supporters don`t give up so easily. :-) Four weeks ago we were facing a 12 point deficit as we left Celtic Park.

ianinjesi said...

I wouldn`t be surprised if Rangers get their match v Dundee United put back to allow them to rest before the UEFA cup final.

Keving said...

Lhads will answer tomorrow.....

Six: Why no match report?

Keving said...

Was I meant to do it and went to the pub instead?

got to say, im absolutely gutted. Currently running a little spread bet which included Rangers doing this quadruple the blue half of Glasgow have been talking about. Looks like the value of my £10 initial bet will have diminished significantly after last nights performance....
