Motherwell 1 Celtic 2 FT: Post Match 1st Impression.

Get out of jail, pass go and collect three points. Job done. Performance? Not exactly pretty fitba', but not anti fitba as at least we tried to attack. It was just unfortunate that all oor attacks started wie Lee Naylor and ended wie Lee Naylor.

The Weasel had one to forget, too add to the last 30 he will want to forget.

All credit and plaudits go to Motherwell 14 corners to oor 1 shows how dominate they were esp in the first period. After the break, Celtic were ,sort of, better wie us showing the usual bottle to come from a goal down.

Skippy- as predicted- scored the equaliser 70 seconds after a Bobo inspired opening goal for Motherwell and Georgious Samaras scored the winner wie 12 mins left after Celtic had won their first corner, which shouldnae have been a corner.

Unsure what McGhee is moaning aboot as Steve Conroy had a mare for both sides. He allowed Motherwell to batter players from the back when challenging for the often aimless pumped ba's but as soon as Hooped jersey tried to get his body between him and his man then or show a bit of force he blew like a Paris lady of the night. He also allowed some thugish behaviour towards Naka go unpunished in the first 15 mins.

Talking Points

  • How long do we need to put up wie The Weasel at LB?
  • Bobo, c'mon all the "Bobo must return" brigade, thoughts?
  • Gary Caldwell, once again MOTM?

Overall.

3 points and oor manager calls it right. It was a game that you will forget. It was like a pub league game wie 22 hungover 18 Stone beer bellied "legends" running aboot on a public park. Still, 90 mins doon, 180 and 6 points to go.

It's now oot oor hands for 7 days.

The goals and some highlights. It's not very long....

Forza

Thanks for the highlights. Controversial Motherwell goal, was Naylor fouled as he headed clear? :-) No doubt that has been debated. Corner to Celtic, looked like it on only viewing.
Whatever, the score has been recorded!

Wins a win - at this stage I will take three points no matter how they come.

Probably wasn't a corner, however don't care

Bobo - looked rusty, however his performance today was no worse than quite a few of the ones Heid and McManiac have put in over the season, hence we are in this position.

However Heid was again my MOM today - the only one I felt put in a full 90 minute shift. Been outstanding the last few weeks.

Why did we have no urgency ubtil we went behind - again?

Hinkel - sorry am not buying into this "he's a fantastic signing" yet. Technically no doubt a gifted player, however he is slow, not that great in the air and doesn't seem to support Naka. To be honest, I feel the Telf was a more effective team player and that is something coming from me.

Still as I said 3 points, win all our games and pray that the Huns start dropping them tomorrow.

What am I doing up this early? Why am I watching MOTD on BBC2, hoping that we dispatch of Hibs as early next week after the huns have dropped points in their two games this week?

Maybe, like Ian said, I was shitting maeself that I would wake up this morning and see the huns had got the season extended to June….why do I still think this will happen?

Am I the only one that feels uncomfortable wie having the notion to go oot and watch a Huns game? I mean how many times can I put up wie the phrase “WAFFA Cup Finalists”?

Ah, yes Bobo. The Bombscare returned to “haunt” us yesterday. Flat footed, cumbersome, rash in the tackle (harshly punished by the ref at times) and made Mick look like Maldini. At home against the now long ba’ Hibs surely O’Dea should be considered.

Hartley was poor and The Weasel surely must be packing up and waiting on a Taxi.

Ian: 1986, Albert Kidd. We are looking for an Albert Kidd just now. Who will it be? True, when we left CP after the defeat from Motherwell we thought it was over. DUTD gave us up wie the 3-3 draw the following day and the huns run of nae wins and six gives us hope.

That nae win run hopefully will continue today. I mean they canny win on pens today.

Oh, of course the foul on The Weasel has been debated… to great length.

Baldy: I agree that why did it take us to go a goal doon before looking up for it but I don’t agree that oor defensive displays have been the main reason for oor predicament. Oor lack of urgency- like today- in the home games we have dropped points and went oot of cups in has been the major problem.

We have soo poor in games from the middle to the front in games that I believe that is the main reason we have struggled. Still think we have the best defensive record in the league.

Even though it didnae work well yesterday we have to go wie the same front 6 next week.

Yer point on Hinkel is valid. He was poor last week and yesterday was the same. He seems to have stopped his bursts up the park that made him seem like a wing back at times rather than a full back. Was wondering if this was a tactic from the manager?

He looked a bit like Bambi on Ice on that park yesterday.

Just watch The Brum get beat of Fulham. I have no sympathy for Big Eck at all….

Forza (think I will cut the grass…..)

Hi Kevin & all - sorry didn't manage a report after the game: the wife was pulling me oot the door to get some shopping done (anything to keep the peace). Enjoyed reading yer "post match" tho', especially knowing it keeps ye oot the pub
:o)

Agree with most of what everybody's been saying, although I would lay off Andy a bit. First season in SPHell, a culture shock for anybody. He will be better tuned and fitter next season.

I'm more worried about Skoosh. Don't think he contributed anything when he came on yesterday, and I don't remember the last time he did. We can only hope that NL will spend a lot of time with him in the coming months to help him fulfil his potential.

Credit where credit's due Caldwell did well yesterday. But Bobo (loved the guy during MON's time but has definately overstayed his welcome). I still don't think Mick is the answer, don't think JFK is either, so probably O'Dea would be my prefrred option of the current picks.
And what's the score with Wilson, how can he no' get a start in front of Nails?

There must be a line of taxis waiting all the same (Bobo, Nails, Elvis, Deeks,... the list goes on).

The MIB yesterday (well it was actually a dahling wee powder blue/turquoise number he had on) did us a few favors.
At the same time he turned a blind eye to all the Motherwell "mugging" that was going on, especially in the first 20mins or so, and true to form it was a hoop in the book first (Robson).
The fact that Naka was going have a square go shows you how bad it was.
But all in all, Mr Conroy must have a "P H" in his first name
:o)

The HG: all in black and looking "slightly" podgy (or maybe he had 10 o' thae t-shirts on underneath). We all know Artur's game could be improved (he is pretty uninspiring in the corners & cross balls department) but he can't be allowed to go (unless we're talking 15zillion minimum).

Nice touch by Sammy to run over to big Jan after his goal - gives an indication of the spirit in the dressing room when you see that. We he be here next season? I would like to think "yes". However, I would replace Jan by A N Other as I don't think we'll see much better from the big man.

Amzing how such a crappy game can throw up so many talking points, and I hunvae even mentioned them yet...

Can Hibs do us a favour today? If it wasn't for the 2 reds last week, I would say "yes" but now I cannae see it. No longer believe in the fitba Gods, unless...

...unless they are stretching it out so that we can enjoy the mother of holy mothers of last laughs.

So many Rangers games to ignore. This could be a cue to get in the garden or do something constuctive. All we can do is hope and wait. Can they win five in a row?
Celtic have another must win game next week and hopefully it will go well. It may be the last time we see some of the Bhoys and a happy memory would be nice. As for the characters who let go with the Strachan must go chant last month, how about having a wee think before you go to the match.
The post match hunting of the referee if it is perceived that Celtic got a decision verges on madness.
Incidently we were due a home game on the last day!
We are criticised for mentioning that Rangers play anti football, don`t we know that this is only a `catch up season` and next year Rangers will play attractive expansive fitba while complaining when they have to face a packed defence, no doubt.
Despite it all we are happy people! :-)
Celtic! Celtic! Celtic!

Six: MrsG called at 12:15 she said “U not away to the pub to watch the game” so I went….

I don’t think we are being too hard on Andy, think we are just highlighting like all players after a promising start he has faded a bit.

Correct, Scott Broon done he haw when he came on yesterday.

The HG, look back I said he was looking podgy against the sheepie in the cup. I put it doon to inactivity.:-)

Jvoh, I think the big man has improved in recent weeks. Looks fitter, whether it’s guid enough I still don’t know.

Sammy: Unsure if he is the answer now.

Ian: I huvnae read a paper or listened to a Scottish based Radio Station for weeks now. I really couldnae gie monkies what they are saying.

But…r*ngers style, as you said will not change.

Turned over to santa tv there…interview wie Kirk Broadfoot. Talking aboot some diddy cup final. Decided to take MrsG oot to the Thistle Shopping Centre…..

Feck watching them.

Well, Hibs have drawn with Rangers and the Bhoys have a 7 point lead with 3 more played. Win against Hibs and Celtic will have a chance on the last day. Hoping for a reverse of 2003 and 2005 where we are the people smiling.
All we can do now is to hope for a win next Sunday.

After fighting relegation all season, those Bhoys in Brown, the only team in Hamburg, are buoying around 7th! Forza!

Can we do it?

Hell yeah!!

The Baldy Household is getting quietly confident.

Sixtae - not having a go at Andy - just getting cheesed off reading a lot on the Timterweb that Hinkel is some super signing. I agree he needs to acclimatise, however the jury has to be out on him until later.

Keeping it interesting. Obviously all the Tic can do is win the two matches. That`s enough to worry about!
A peaceful week to all.

Knew they had dropped points when my phone started going at 3.50pm yesterday.

So where does that leave us? The same as we were at 2.20pm on Saturday. 2 wins and it's up to the ghods.

Ian & Matt: St Pauli have got their goal for this season. They have not been relegated, Have lost their CF Charles Tayki (former Rochdale and Torquey legend) for next season.

Nae loss, I thought he has been dross the games I have watched this season.

I'm off to the training day, will post photos later on.

C'mon Kev, the situation is better than at 2.20pm on Saturday.
:o)
Agree, we still have 2 hard games to win and we are looking to others to do their job as well.
But, there is more than a glimmer of hope now.
KTF
Look forward to seeing the photies!

We thought that if Celtic have a chance going into the last match then that would be good. A win against Hibs would assure that. Still depending on others, though.
