Post Match Session: Celtic 2 Hibs 0(h)

So that's it over. I didn't realise it was the last home game until the lines of stewards appeared up the "Auld Jungle" touchline with about 5 mins to go. It still seems like this season has months to go. If R*ngers got their way we would still have months to go with their game against St Mirren being arranged for the Glesga Fair Weekend and thier last game against Aberdeen for the 12th July to ensure a full turnout from Ulster.

This season feels like when you eat a packet of Malteasers. It's never enough and always leaves you wanting another packet. Maybe, it's because we have just found form and we are begining to enjoy the games. Maybe it's because when the sun shines on CP and you see a good game of football you wish that every Saturday / Sunday was like that.

Yesterday, I got up and wasn't expecting a lap of honor, wasn't expecting to maybe see The Holy Goalie for the very last time at CP. Seems to early to say goodbye to your "fitba' buddies" and not see them until the first freebie pre-season game against FC Naemark fae Naemark mill.

So, when sitting eating my breakfast Sky Sports News brought this story regarding Zenit St Petersburg. Now, we all knew that they were a tad racist but bully for Little Dick Advocaat for having the morals of a sewer rat and proving that he is only in it for the money by remaining at the club.

So his CV boosts him being the manager of a club that is openly racist and another that operated a sectarian policy for over 100 years and has recently been been investigated for continued sectarian chanting at games in Europe.

How proud UEFA must be that these two bastions of football "integrity" are competing for the diddy cup. So, it's nice to see them getting into the swing of things as LOTW can exclusively revel the match program as pictured above.

Still, my inital thoughts of both teams losing the game, a nice riot and smashing of heads (both Russians and "Scots") is the only outcome I will be happy with. Oh, that and 10 year bans for all involved.

But I digress, lets have a linkage feast from the beasts of the fourth estate.

The Herald, The Guardian, The Hootsmon, The Times

Now, for the goals and our managers (and probably next seasons manager) comments.

So, we have taken it to the last day. I think we should be happy with that. The reason we have got to this stage is because of two factors. One is Robson and Hartley. They have single handily pulled us back into the race for the title. They have been the partners in crime for 5 of the last 6 victories (Robbo-Cop has played in all 6) and have given the team drive and energy.

In Barry Robson we have signed a player in the form of his life who wasn't going to let the little matter of a disfunctioning team stop him from getting his hands or getting at least very close to an SPL medal.

Add to those two the return of Neil Lennon. Is it no surprise that our midfield has improved 100% after the return of Lenny. While he is a glorified waterbhoy I reckon you can see his influence in the performances of Hartley and Robson.

I think Paul Hartley has took Lenny's mantal as the lynchpin of the team and Robson reminds me (as I have said in the past) of Alan Thompson in his prime. Add to that the new found confidence in Gary Caldwell, Skippy and the explosive talent of Naka and Aiden then we should be confident going to Tannadeechie to get a result in 1100 (or something) days time.

Not that it's a gimmie. We have the best away form in the league with 13 wins so far this season, we have only drawn one. We are 19 games since we last had a score draw and 9 games since we last had a 0-0. Dundee Utd have won 9 home games this season and have drew 6. In their last 5 home games they have drawn 4 so they don't lose many at home.Add to that the injustice they will be feeling after this.

We need R*ngers to drop points and their season away record 8 wins, 4 draws and 4 loses, coupled with their recent away form of 5 points out a possible 15 mean that if the home team score first against them then the chances are they will drop points. From the 8 games this season R*ngers have not scored first they have only gained 5 points, winning only 1.They might not lose (the only team to beat them from behind this season is US) but dropping two points might be on the cards.

It must happen for us to snatch the league. It's been a rollercoaster season, one that has been more enjoyable than the last but one that could end up one of the worst seasons ever. We have ended up with mair points than last season, scored mair goals and for me played better football at times.

It could all be in vain though.

It might not end in vain, though. :-)
In 1962 my dad took me to my first Scottish cup final. Rangers 2 St Mirren 0. I remember how shiny the cup was and the sea of blue scarfs near the end. After that Rangers had two games to win to pip Dundee to the league, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen. They only managed a draw with the Marnocks and lost to the Dandies.
There is a lot of footy to be played yet.
Come on the Bhoys!

Kevin, if I read you correctly, you mention that our manager will still be here next season.

I think you are right, unless he decides to walk for his own reasons.

We could do worse and there's never any guarantee that any new guy in would be successful. Just think: we would have been happy to have got PLG three years ago!

Still, I'm glad to be out of Scotia at the moment.
I can easily keep away from all the Hype and there ain't a single Hun in sight - just pretty women ... walking down the street ... pretty women ... the kind ah never meet ...

Moans moans moans
After watching a prog about immigrants from the Phillies I found that Scotsport was on. Celtic v Hibs without film or reference to our disallowed goal and Hugh Keevins in two minutes said, `if Rangers don`t drop the points at Motherwell the league is theirs`, `Scott Brown isn`t happy at Celtic` and referring to ref Craig Thomson that he was used to controversial decisions because he allowed Celtic`s first goal against the horrible lot. All in two minutes. Today`s Sport in the Herald has a moaning Aberdeen fan still banging on about a disallowed goal at Celtic Park. I would question the Herald including this. Craig Levein has modified his comments to be about the Old Firm.
How am I meant to have a good day now? :-) How are YOU meant to have a good day with me moaning.
:-)
Kevin, support the Buddies? I was more intrigued about Hampden Park and the number of people, can`t remember the game at all.

Fact of the day (From Gary Caldwell)

'Why would we be jealous, our target was to qualify from our Champions League group - if you do that, you can't enter the UEFA Cup.'

Six: You read me correctly. This view has been taken by The Alternative View Fanzine who a few months back ran a story that GS was going to leave (as was my information as well) Now, they are saying that there insiders say he will stay.

Reply further later…..

Playing fives and MrsG is giving me abuse.

Back from fives MrsG is not in…….

Ian: I saw the “Scott Brown isnny happy” bit of Scotsport. He just couldnae say something nice aboot us (he was praising Barry Robson) wieoot getting a wee dig. Turned it over and watched American Dad on BBC 3.

The Herald has went right downhill. They are working to an agenda now. Jumping to a tune from the darkside. I blame Broadfoot. Talking of him, you should read his (Kirks not Darryls) UEFA Cup diary in it today.

Don’t think it’s meant to sound like Adrian Moles primary school diary. It’s very entertaining.

I had a good day. Was too busy to bother aboot The Huns and some cup final of a competition that we were too good to enter. I have ignored all news bulletins, SSN and XFM is my listening station of choice for a few days.

It’s easy out in the sticks. Unsure and feel sorry for the guys who live and work in Glesga.

Tomorrow I hope for good news on two fronts…….but I wont be rubbernecking for the second bit of hopefully good news.

Won't be watching any fitbaw tomorrow. Even if I was unbiased, why would I want to watch such boring fitbaw? Not to mention, while I hope the Huns lose, I don't really want Zenit to win that much either. Luckily I have my Cleveland Cavaliers to keep me occupied in the NBA playoffs! RISE UP!

Today will finally decide if this is indeed the Season from Hell.

A tainted triple I can live with: a year in purgatory.
But not a satanic Q.

Curiosity will no doubt get the better of me and I will tune in. I will immediately switch off if it looks like the fitba gods have arsed it again.

Fact Of The Day (Mani bass player in Primal Scream and of Stone Roses fame on BBC Scotland last night in his CCCP trackie top)

"We don't want secterianism in Manchester. They (the huns) all look in bred. We have blacks in Manchester who have guns....."

Legend.....

Of course Sir AF got it wrong. This is squeaky brain time! :-)

Anyone see football rivalries on ITV4 last night? They had Arsenal v Spurs and Fenerbache v Galatasary. A bit sparky in Turkey!
On ITV4 tomorrow is England v Scotland old crocks match from Southampton.
Anything else on?

Decided not to watch it.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Received loads of texts and messages from my mates in the last 5 mins.

The Huns are rioting on BBC News 24. Nacho's face is tripping him. Life couldn't be better at this moment.

Matt BTW no offence, however being a Celtic man - hope our Boston namesakes and my Great Aunties team keep their run going.

ianinjesi said...

Happy to see them beaten, justice for football. Andy Walker is
looking very sad for an ex Celt. Get a grip wee fellow, it`s only a game.

sixtaeseven said...

Just saw the scoreline.
That'll do me.

David Moyes - gutted! Sounded it too. Hhhhmmmmm his Celtic credentials took a bit of a battering in my eyes.

Right am off for a drink - unfortunately no advocaaat in the baldy household so will have to make do with a beer

Hail Hail and may your prayers be with the people of Manchester, Sandbach, Forton, Lancaster, Westmorland, Southwaite Carlisle, Gretna, Johnstone Bridge, Abington etc. this evening - they will probably need them.

Btw a new World Sex Record was held in Manchester tonight! One Dick fucked a 100,000 arseholes.

ianinjesi said...

Not sure if this will help us but I think it is preferable to them parading the UEFA cup about with them. You wouldn`t have mistaken that for a CL final but in any final it`s about the cup.

Baldy-Perhaps this little video will change your mind. It's of "New England" Revolution of the MLS fans chanting when we faced them in a friendly a few years back...

Cavs bottled it terribly tonight though, shot themselves in the foot with missed free throws. The Huns defeat makes it better though.

The quad-3=The Diddy League Cup!
