Hinkel In For A Tinkel + Holy Goalie Smoalie….Mid Winter Just Got Interesting…

"Where's ze fans?"

Mawwwwwwwwwwwwww, did I miss something? A 70,000 sooperdooper stadium from oor soothside nee’bours, built wie a sponsors cash, linked to a hotel, casino, shopping mall and all decked in the blueness of blue wie the bank balance firmly in the black wie £60 a game tickets the norm for the bigot brothers?

That’s as almost as believable as Roberto Hooton being a £10m player- © The Evening Times- or a bid even coming in near that amount from a manager who replied “Alan Who” when asked aboot his blockbusting sweet type bid.

Surely in this winter, when the orcs should be luvin the fact that they are now in the driving seat, the moonbeam one is peddling guid news stories to his lapdogs to hide the fact that after the festival of Benzem they are skint, won’t be spending nae dosh UNLESS they sell their most saleable asset, for a tidy sum, before he comes pish again?

Surely no? Are the medija that under the moonbeam spell that even they must realize that the follow followers won’t swallow this? They canny be that stupid to believe that they huvnae been trying to punt the “The White Cafu” behind his back and take their eye of the prize by promising the hoards untold riches and succulent surroundings to eat their blue nose burgers and wipe their arses in?

At least Celtic are not as bad….well they are really wie their Arfur Boruc non story. Right, he has signed a bumper deal- worth anything from £20,000 a week to £33,000-, which extends his stay to 2011 the SSM, would LIKE US to believe. Me, I smell Stan Petrov.

I still believe and think, the Holy Goalie will be off in the summer if some sooperdooper club wie a 70,000 all seater stadium comes in and meets the Hooton type price, which will be written into the small print of the bumper contract. If no sooperdooper club comes in wie a Hooton type bid or if some smaller club than Celtic comes in wie a Hooton type bid but Arfur disnny fancy it then he will stay.

Simple really.

Right, I want the big pole in the goal to stay until he is fat, 40 and looks like the polish John Burridge in an ill fitting rigoot but I know that will not happen. I’m happy wie the fact that Celtic will not actively court bids for the goalie but have laid the cards on the table, gave the holy one a deal that others, only a chosen few, will have to at least match or beat and placed a value on him that means we win a watch if someone meets it.

We are not trying to punt him behind his back. Arfur knows the score. Maybe the SSM likes to pay the fans for fools but he is fair game wie his saleable assets.

The Holy Goalie will have a new Bavarian pal to abuse, punch and shout at when we return to action. Andreas Hinkel, the 25-year-old Seville reject- © Radio Tuecther this evening- has joined to sort the problematic right back slot. Bad news for Andreas is that we have now found out he can play left back as well….but that was only according to Oliver Bonhoff.

While signing a former German international whom at 25 has his best years ahead of him, was kept oot of the Seville team by the new Roberto Hooton- Daniel Alves- a player subjected to trillion pounds bids in the summer- and he has not played for Hibs why am I still not to excited at this signing?

Main reason that GS record in the full back market has been poor. Mo Camara, Adam Virgo, Mark Wilson, Lee Naylor and the Ross Wallace experiment- which has been followed up wie the O’Dea, Conroy and Calderbuer experiment- means that his record at spotting and signing a decent full back is running at 35%. Almost as guid or bad, depends on how you look at it, as his creative midfielder success rate.

Wie the h*ns now edging in front, wie no sign of dropping points soon, this period is as crucial as ANYTIME since Bratislava. GS has a couple of weeks to bolster the squad correctly and get the team playing well again. Player returning from injuries will help the team also if he gets the correct players in, then balance should return ending the playing players oot of position palaver that we have seen recently.

In saying that rumors that he fancies the Brazilian full back Coelho as a right hand sided midfielder, has been known to play players on the wrong wings, center backs as full backs and attacking midfielders on the wing or in the holding role means we canny take nuthin for granted!!!!

This windae will either cement GS as a Celtic legend of a manager or cement the view that he is oor Big Eck that no matter his success his signings will ultimately be his downfall.

So, do I wish we were back to league duty on Saturday when we play ma hometown club- I know support ma local team etc- in the Scottish cup, which we are getting for nuthin and I’m attending because, I am a fan and I attend games also that after last seasons ticket fiasco for the final will need to ensure ma swipe card has been noted as being at the game along wie the 20,000 others that will bother to turn up.

No, another week to before a return to league duty suits me fine. Another week to sign another few players, decide if we will go Brazilian this winter and get rid of the excess fat that sits on oor bench, in the stand swiping the money from the coffers. So what if we go further behind, if GS gets the next few weeks right it won't make any difference.

It also gives me the chance to watch a team I used to watch frequently. Well, many moons ago at the old Annfield, when I used to stand in the Kop end- the only covered end of the stadium- wie ma mates when Celtic were away from hame and Faither G widnae take me to away games.

Saw some "greats". Wullie Irvine, Wullie Watters, Jim Brogan and the infamous Robert Reilly being a notable footnote in ma fitba watching and I also remember Liam Brady playing for Celtic in a reserve game, I think, and being the best player on the park by a country mile in a green and black pinstriped away kit. I also was present at the first every game played on Astroturf in Scotland and the first ever game at Forthbank.

Canny remember much aboot that game at Forthbank but I do remember I purchased my first CD that day..Blur’s For Tomorrow CD single.

Lost interest when they moved to Forthbank. Hassle to get to and I had disposable income to travel to Celtic week in week oot. Even wie Sunday games now, instead of going to Forthbank, where they have a decent team under the guidance of Allan Moore, I will go and watch Milton Amateurs as it is less hassle than taking the car to Forthbank. Oh, and I can have a pint in the wee social club.

So it’s wie a heavy heart I say I hope the hoops take 10 of the Binos, wie Hinkel getting a hat trick.

Go on You Tube and type in Hinkel singt, yes that is the title and you will see oor new German superstar in a unflattering position....

Oh, young man....

I only take a quick browse thru the on-line Herald and the Scotsman in the morning to get the current "temperature" of things.

Can't believe they are still running with the latest 700 zillion pounds murray moonbeam.
There are some that are firmly stuck in the pocket's of the emperors auld claes.

We all reckon Artur will go, but as he is a bit of a looney there is still hope.
:o)

I have a gut feeling we might a found a gem in our new full back Andy (along the lines of Artur and Naka). Hopefully he will be better value than MON's JoosV, who only gave us a good seasons and cost us nearly the double (if I remember right).
Still, players rarely hit the ground running, so hopefully he will be allowed a bit of leeway when his first crosses don't meet big Jan napper.

RE:Hutton - he won't be at Ipox for long now, whether he likes it or not. Don't think any pieces of silver they get will be reinvested in their team.

I`m hopeful for Andreas Hinkel and pleased that Artur Boruc has improved his contract for both parties. (I hate that Holy goalie song and all other songs with sweary words!) I also prefer Artur to the HG (mercury?) term. :-)
Of course tonight I`m not anti rangers but pro St Mirren!

Did Radio Scotland refer to Andreas as a Sevilla reject? What are they like? :-)

As you say, this is a massive window for the team. I also feel that Hinkel will be a good buy, just got that feeling. 17 German caps and I don’t think like the Brazilians they give them out to increase a player’s value.

Hopefully, but, I can’t see it a quality striker will be bought as well. JVOH and Skippy have no competition as I just can’t see Deek or Killen getting a string place.

I would also love to see us signing a Pirlo type midf someone who can dominate play and pull the strings from a deep lying midf role.

Also used to frequent the old Anfield, can remember changing ends at half time lol those were the days, even better my mammy used to work in the fine fare café and we used to nick in for some free cakes on the way home…..aye ,Kev that’s when the six pack got ruined 

Robbie Keane csc :-)

So annoyed as was looking forward to first SPEEEL match on my Santa box.

What about this guy Muzuno then?

Mizuno Clip

Clip taken from the Huddleboard for your enjoyment. Not sure what the hampden roar is and I am (after the famous Magic clips) a little pensive of these compilations.

First thought though is that he looks very slight again. Still welcome to Paradise iof its all true.

ianinjesi said...

Agree with your first thought about Mizuno. No room for Bjarnasson or O`Brien then?
He does look a good player but our own young players need encouragement too.

I remember travelling to Stirling with a Partick Thistle supporter to Stirling for a Scottish cup match one midweek. The bus was delayed leaving because a young boy had been arrested for throwing paper in the air when the teams came out. This must have been just after the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. :-)

Keving said...

Sixtaeseven- I read Clovenhoofs rant this afternoon. Couldnae believe what I was reading. That paper has really went doon hill since he has got his free reign. Like you, I look on line now.

Andy seems to be getting a great reception, you, Ian and Robbie Keane CSC, seem to think he will sort oot the RB slot. I think we will need to give him time. 6 games this season, less than 20 in 3 seasons and his last cap was in 2005.

He might not hit the ground running.

I think Joos after his first injury was never the same player. He lost the pace that gave him the edge when he was caught wie the baw over the top.

See Spurs are back in the super hooton……improved wages, wally expects him to stay…I expect him to be at Spurs before the end of the week…..

Ian- Not a fan of the version of the HG song that gets sung, me and the Green Brigade like the original version- not the GBTP one- the one aboot the championship flag but the power of you tube has deemed that irrelevant.

Radio Tuecther took great delight at highlighting that, Andreas, he didnae get a game and his last cap was in 2005, well Stephen Craigan and Gus McPherson did…they then raved aboot mutton hutton…..

I’m sure Annfield didnae change Ian, from 1978 until it was knocked doon in 1993…think they were still selling the same pies, juice and sweeties as well….

Robbie Keane CSC or Anon- Coelho has a Brazilian cap, sure he played in the World Cup final, came on as a sub….wonder if that was part of the increase the value for a bung scam….

I would like to see a striker as well, but all rumors point to midfielders, playmakers no less- very untypical GS signings them- but not Pirlo types….i thought Massimo was Pirlo though?

Centre back is a must….again I canny see it…..

I remember the changing ends as well at Annfield, remember a rammie against Dundee one game behind the main stand were the seats where the old ones from the Allan Park cinema…..The Albion lost a lot of support when they moved, sign of the times I suppose….

Mmmmmm, I’m sure yer six pack was fecked before then mate

Canny believe the huns game was off, I played fives or water polo wie umbro mouldies on this evening…..

Baldy- merry santa box, hours of entertainment will be had I’m sure.

Mizuno, pacy winger, direct… the Japanese Aideninho? As Ian says would like to see O’Brien get a chance, on Saturday could be a decent opportunity, but this lad seems ok.

If he signs then the problem is, he’s slight and him adapting…remember Du Wei…

Love his teams name…JEF UTD…..brilliant, mon the jefs…..

But signing attacking players IS mair sexy than defenders…..

Right rumor mill time

Was talking to a “friend” who was talking to a friend in a boozer. This friend has links to scouting networks- so he says- all over Scotland.

The rumor is that GS and the SSM have had a major barney over the role John Park is taking at the club. The “beef” is that GS appointed Ray Clarke to be the heid scout for the 1st team but Park has came in and took over this role.

GS is unhappy at the fact that Clarke’s role has been diluted and also seemingly John Park is not the most affable man to get on or work wie. Mind you, I’m sure some say that aboot oor manager.

Anyway, GS took the SSM to task over this and was sent away wie a flea in his ear regarding Park and the role that he has in the club. It was made clear that Park was the SSM appointment and what the SSM says goes.

GS was also told he has control of 1st team affairs only and scouting is no longer part of his remit.

GS is said to be worried regarding the role the SSM is taking overall. He is the Kaiser souse and ANYTHING that happens in the club goes through the SSM. He is the chief, make no mistake as the Bobo Balde non playing situation proved. SSM says the bigman no play the bigman no play….

Seems like Park picks them the SSM says yes then they get offered to the manager…..

Now for the watching lawyers and celtic webmunkies- hiya- the above is all completely fabricated and pesh. It’s aboot as true as a 70,000 all seated stadium in Govan.

Oh, and another thing, whu was Andy not paraded at CP so he could gie autographs to the fans and the jobless that hang around there all day?

i know wot u are saying tho reg letting the fan's see new players etc.

i agree reg postponment tonight, i was out playing 7's as well and it was magic.

Woof, randomly encountered this blog a few months back, been enjoying the commonsense chat ever since. Blur's "For Tomorrow" - I commend your impeccable taste! Very interesting to hear Liam Brady turned out for the Hoops (or not, as the case may be). Keep up the great work! John D.

Keving said...

The rumour is third hand information. I wisnny present when the story was told. I presume that oor manager must have pointed oot we were doon to the bear bones and Elvis is not very guid to the SSM.

Also maybe the FACT that he would only play two games before the A.C.N and that we would sign a full back, thus meaning Calderbuer- free transfer and £8,000 grand a week- reverting to CB smoothed the passage.

Think the Lennoxtoon thing is bolloxs. The bunker in the campsies should only be used for training, CP to parade signings.

Will oor new Japanese Tim, if he signs- image rights could be a problem- Koki Mizuno- Koykey Meezuno- I bet money he is paraded at CP……

John D, commonsense chat is something that contributors on this site wid never have thought wid huv been leveled at them…first for everything….welcome to the site

Can I ask- being nosey- how you randomly found this house of ill repute? So glad you did and hope to hear from you again.

So many lurkers..think I will start a numbering system…like you get an LOTW member number and you quote it when you post…..nah too lazy….

Liam Brady, played a few times for the hoops. He registered himself and turned oot for the reserves. That night at Annfield, I’m sure Gerry Crainey played up front as well….remember faitherg saying that Brady could have played for the first team after watching him that night….

Cultured left foot indeed….

Yes, it is a cracking single…on a cracking album- Modern Life Is Rubbish- as well. Blur were a cracking band at this point and also the Parklife point…Modern Life and Parklife are classic British pop albums

Lots of new bands kicking aboot that I think are guid- Glasvegas, The Briganties, The Twilight Sad, The Voltaires…my space is the revolution for an up-coming band…

Now that the Glesga derby has been called for 23rd Jan anyone else feel that will come too soon for us? I was hoping for Feb at least….now hoping oor business is concluded within the next week before the Killie game.

Naka now must play against the Binos……

Also the calling of the well game on the 29th Jan means we have three away games in a week..Falkirk, Motherwell and Aberdeen.

Hard shift for the bhoys- both on and off the park….

ianinjesi said...

The fixtures may be coming at the right time for us Hoops! :-)
I thought that it was 3 away games in a week but there is a break for the Sc Cup after the M`well match. Could be 4 aways in a row!

correct they were 2 brilliant albums as well.

ok i bet u a pint then mizuno if he signs will be paraded at lennoxtown.

we weren't anymore down to the bare bones than we had been for weeks that is were it falls down for me but i know wot your saying, there must have been something other than playing ability keeping our best centre-half (only kidding kev) from getting picked.

newcastle too big for not so big sam. he is good manager but only when at a smaller team were his style of play is more suited. would have been interesting if he had got england job a few years back to see how he coped at international level, then again we wouldn't have witnessed mclaren trying to make them a team and fail miserably which was enjoyable.

worrying news japan's world cup qualifiers start in feb and they will be wanting naka and mizunho for their games.

Keving said...

Pint it is mate...he is having his med tomorrow so we will soon find out...hopefully.

Also, Elvis was injured for the DUFC game....

Read today that Mizuno- meezuno- will be away wie Japan from the 15th Jan to a training camp and for two games...

The problems of signing players from Africa and the far east is plain for all to see...

Seven said...

ok sounds good.

yes hopefully find out tomorrow.

i thought elvis was just left out but even if he was injured, he has been injured for most of the season and bobo hasn't had sniff, thats wot i meant.

any thought's on who gs would go for if the bolton bid is true and bobo is for the off.

aye it is a bit of a nightmare reg those type of players leaving for int duty but to be fair we have been ok reg naka and amount of games missed through that type of thing.

african nations is a sore one if your team has few key players involved in it.

do we think mizuno will play on sat at any stage if he signs tomorrow.

sixtaeseven said...

Nuki Mizoko - sounds good !

Bobo awa' - disnae sound good !

Hutton - sounds like mutton !

Goals galore - bring on the Binos !

Keving said...

Looks like Bobo will be plying his wares doon at the reebok. Sounds like he has agreed a deal wie the Trotters…wonder if that means he has agreed a pay off withthe SSM?

I’m sure the Champ Manager buffties will give you some names of center backs we could sign but…..KDS had us going for a bloke called Siminic….

Bobo leaving is like losing a girl you fancied but over the years you have found less attractive…guid luck to the big fellow….we need cover though..

Just watching Celtic Tv, interview wie Arfur…whit a star..parka, polo neck and bunnet..Danny Dyertastic….

Brillant interview…I’m sure the timternet will be full of the quotes, but heres the jist

“I want to beat r*ngers again”

“we will be on top at the end of the season”

and just for Ian “I want to hear the Holy Goalie song again”

basically the big mad polish coo loves us…until the summer at least….

Another rumour……

Got an e-mail from a friend who says he was talking to a reliable source who was talking to GS….Seemingly GS said that McFadden would only come in towards the end of the month if no other midfielders signed……..AND……he thinks oor best midfield is Naka, Donati, Broon and McGeady…..

I think that’s pish, nae Hartley in that midfield? There was also another name in the e-mail but it was that exciting I deleted the e-mail and canny remember the name….

LOTW, hame of the pesh rumour…..

No Brazilian…..Coelho is away hame to club some seals….

sixtaeseven said...

"McFadden would only come in towards the end of the month if no other midfielders signed"

I've been trying to work that out, but, no, I don't get it.

Re: midfield, I still think we are lightweight physically - need a bit of steel and dig and rxperience in there. Something I had hoped Graveson would have provided before we found out he was as effective as a bulldug chasing a baloon.
We've got skill in the middle but we are too easily overrun by the govanites, and that's a big factor in the 2 hoss-race that is the SPL .

Would love to see young Faddy in the hoops, BTW - up front!

ianinjesi said...

That midfield four worked before the other teams got wise and put the boot in.
If Bobo is going then please please not before we are sure that we have better available.
keep that `song` to yourself Kevin!

Keving said...

Oor manager has never been one to sign a steel and dig type midfielder- maybe or man in the Cov will tell me different- he likes skillful baw players who play their way into the game not kick or hassle.

It’s just that his judgment of midfielders is suspect.

Against the orcites oor manager has admitted that they wanted it more…and were more physical but he would sort it….he said that in May 2007.

I don’t think he has sorted it. I reckon he thinks we can play oor way oot of trouble. I want to believe we can play oor way oot of trouble as well. Imaging beating them playing pure fitba wie Aiden, Naka and Donati running riot….

Must admit, Faddy, I would be non plussed…but Birmingham have got a knock back..has this rumour got the legs to be a goer?

I really don’t think we are looking at CB’s….i feel it in ma water….he likes Calderbuer and Mickildini…..will play O’Dea if needed and still rates Elvis…he thinks we are strong enough….please prove me wrong…..

Ian, it’s Arfur that wants to hear THAT song…..he likes it:-)

I haven’t bought ma Barca ticket yet. I am swithering….really are. But some other mug will just buy it so ma protest, at the price is in vain….

I canny believe the amount of abuse the Hoops are getting for the Coelho thingy. So we decided that we didanae fancy him. We sent a fax, which QUITE CLEARLY states that we would like to see him in training and if all went well we would pay them a fee…..

So where did we break the deal? We had a look and said thanks but nae thanks on you go back to Brazil…

Is it oor problem his club spent the money they never had in the first place?

Some hoops need to get a grip saying we cut this guy a raw deal….he knew the script when he came over…..

ianinjesi said...

Cheers Kevin!
I`m on the home ticket scheme and that means that I`m a sucker! No cup final ticket for mugs like me! That goes to the people who go to away games and they already get tickets for the Ugbrox due to that. A double divi! :-)

Minutes appreciation for Uncle Phil - touching.

Not many chances in the game.
SA playing well - couple of chances.
Three corners for them, to two for Celtic.
But we are huffing & puffing.
The goal is more of a relief more than anything else.

1 Boruc Artur - one stop but always good to see him there

2 Hinkel Andreas - very encouraging - nice crosses - could be great partnership with Naka
gets on the end of stange ref decision - WELCOME TO SCOTLAND, ANDY!

3 Naylor Lee - still not at his best, pretty poor to be honest

5 Caldwell Gary - doing ok

44 McManus Stephen - doing ok

8 Brown Scott - still expecting more from him, pretty poor to be honest, booked as usual

18 Donati Massimo - involved a lot, but not creating anything dangerous

25 Nakamura Shunsuke - looking lively, this game will do him the world of good

10 Vennegoor of Hesselink Jan - one header just past the post, and a powerful diving header from Aiden's cross after 37minutes

27 McDonald Scott - doing ok

46 McGeady Aiden - looking lively, the time are still relying on him to provide th espark - even against Stirling Albion!

Skippy missed a sitter

Skoosh decent shot on the turn

Aiden shot

after 20 ---- ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ - no subs ???

Caldwell header just over

Skippy side footed into the net after good run by Naylor 2-0

Wonder save from Artur followed by spectacular shot by Donati just past

Hartley sub for Skoosh, OBrien for Naka.

Donato curving shot just past

OBrien header just over

Killen sub for Skippy

Naylor cracking shot shot

Cheers prefer reading your report on the game thanm anything else. Won't bother lookimg anywhere else for a report now.

Merci buckets

Kevin. Am sure that WGS signed Lee Carsley ( yeah checked it - he did in 2000) for the Sky Blues.

This is an article which more or less covers WGS signings from a Cov perspective. Forget the complete bullshit that 'Googleking' Kitalba and the CQN collective write at times regarding what Cov fans thought (and still do) of WGS. This is taken from the local Evening News Paper.

Coventry Evening News WGS & Transfers

It must be said looking at the list, he was lucky to make a profit on transfers, but was dependent upon a rising market rather tham actually making the players anything more than they were. See the comments upon the expensive wages (his legacy) - I wasn't making this up, when I mentioned this was the mill around Cov's neck when they went down. A highly expensive (to maintain) team that was worthless in terms of value (Transfers out!) and no where near the required quality to get Cov back up.

To be honest, it sort of mirrors what is happening now, in some ways. Lots of signings, almost a new team each season, however a few hits that really take off (Artur, Naka etc).

But no - I do not expect to see the hard tackling defensive midfielder with pace coming to Celtic Park anytime soon.

Still he's the manager now for better or worse.

Hail Hail one and all
