Barca v The Celts: Preamble

"Barcelona, Real Madrid, we will make a gallant bid..."

That's a song I've heard - and on occasion sung along to - as long as I can remember.

So here we are, almost a distraction from the real focus of the season, off to the Nou Camp.
Games like these really should be the high point of the season.
But, like at the same stage last year against the eventual CL winners AC Milan, there is the cold realisation that this is as far as we go.

A gallant bid, yes, but we just can't - for all the reasons that we know and have debated long and hard about - compete with the real elite clubs when it comes to the crunch (we're just talking about maybe 10 clubs in the world here).

Unless...

... unless we really do believe in the beautiful game - the game that can produce so much magic and surprises. Even with our abysmal away record in the CL:

What if, we held it tight for the first 45, going in 0-0 at half time.
What if, we scored then scored a quick goal...
Wha if, we actually beat them.
What if, we actually got thru to the quarter finals.

As we line up tonight, just think "anything can happen in the next 90 minutes".

How are we going to line up - only wee Gordon knows, but could be something like:

Artur
Wilson/Caddis Caldwell Mick White-Cafu
Aiden Skoosh Hartley Robson
Skippy Jan

With Naka and Sammy to come on and score the winners in the last half hour.

Don't expect us to win but if we can come away with our reputation intact (on and off the park) it could be a good night.

C'Mon the Celtic !!!

Sixta,

Once again, all of us stateside followers will be cheering on the Bhoys, especially here in Texas. I make no predictions, but I hold my head up proudly one way or another, as I expect the lads will do at Nou Camp. If there is to be a victory, that is the route to it.

Hail, hail and Forza from Texas

Poor first half for Celtic. I think the wind confused Artur at the goal.
Hoping for a shot in the second half!
